General FAQ

How long does delivery take?

Our Standard delivery time is between 2 and 5 working days.

If you have a deadline, please phone Customer Service on 0845 2415 245 (lo-call rate) to discuss your requirements, or send us an email.

For an additional charge, we offer the following Express delivery options:

Express - Delivery the following working day provided we have your order by 12.00 mid-day Monday to Friday.  Additional cost £5.00.

Super Express - Delivery the following working day before 12.00 noon provided we have your order by 12.00 mid-day Monday to Friday.  Additional cost £7.50.

Ultra Express - Delivery the following working day before 10.30am provided we have your order by 12.00 mid-day Monday to Friday.  Additional cost £10.00.

Saturday Express - Delivery before 12.00 noon on Saturday provided we have your order by 12.00 mid-day on Friday.  Additional cost £20.00.

Please note the Express, Super Express, Ultra Express and Saturday Express services are not available for deliveries to Northern Ireland, Scottish Highlands, and Offshore Islands including the Isle of Man, Channel Islands and Isle of Wight.
Orders are checked for stock availability at the time they are placed, and you would be notified if delivery was going to be delayed.  Should we be unable to deliver according to the service selected, we would let you know by email for Standard delivery or by phone for any of the Express services.  If you wished to cancel the order at this time, your payment would be refunded in full.

How can I be sure the order will arrive in time?

The best way of receiving your delivery in time is to order well in advance, as all our goods have a long shelf-life.  Our service is extremely reliable (see Customer Feedback), but there have been occasions (extreme weather, for example) when the delivery vehicles get delayed.  These situations are really beyond our control.  In exceptional circumstances, should a delay occur affecting your delivery deadline, we would email you with details of the delay and ask for your instructions.
It is helpful if you let us know of any delivery deadline when you place your order.

Do you deliver to anywhere?

We deliver throughout the United Kingdom, excluding the Scilly Isles.  Deliveries to some offshore or remote destinations have a higher Standard delivery charge (see below) and may take a few days longer to arrive.  We do not deliver outside the UK at the moment, but for Belgium, Netherlands and France we recommend you to visit our friends at  http://www.pretagarnir.com/

What are your delivery charges?

We have a fixed Standard delivery charge, regardless of the quantity ordered.  This covers our special protective packaging, plus the carriage.  For most destinations the Standard delivery charge is £7.95.  Orders with a value greater than £250 (excluding VAT) qualify for free Standard delivery

We also offer an Express delivery service for an additional cost (see above).
We have to pay higher carriage charges to remote and offshore destinations, so for the postcodes listed below the Standard delivery charge is as shown:

Why are your delivery charges more than some other online shops?

Because the products we ship are mostly extremely fragile, and the protective packaging makes them very bulky: we do not make any profit on delivery charges.

Do you get a lot of breakages?

No not really. Together with our suppliers we’ve had several years to develop effective packaging.  All fragile products are packed in energy-absorbing moulded trays by the manufacturer, and these moulded trays are then sealed within a cardboard outer case.  We then double-box all orders prior to despatch by wrapping the manufacturer’s outer cases in heavy-duty bubble-wrap, then packing into strong shipping cases with a shock-absorbent layer at the bottom.

What do I do if I find any breakages?

All orders are checked by us prior to despatch, but realistically there might be the odd breakage from time to time, which has to be accepted.  In the event of serious damage you would have to contact us with full details so that we could make a claim on the carrier.
